Lin-Manuel Miranda and Ben Platt team up for an emotional #Hamildrop and Twitter is freaking out

Move over, Avengers, and back to the Watchtower with you, Justice League: the only supergroup we need right now is Lin-Manuel Miranda and Ben Platt. The original frontmen for Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen — two of Broadway’s most celebrated contemporary musicals — joined forces for Miranda’s latest #Hamildrop, “Found/Tonight,” which hit at midnight on social media and music streaming services like Spotify. A soaring fusion of “The Story of Tonight” from Hamilton and “You Will Be Found” from Dear Evan Hansen, the song is dedicated to the student organizers of the upcoming March for Our Lives event, where hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children are expected to gather in cities across America to call for an end to gun violence. And based on the Twitter response, the march couldn’t ask for better theme music than “Found/Tonight.” (Listen to the song above.)

In his own Twitter post, Miranda referred to this collaboration as Broadway’s own “Marvel/DC crossover” and designated Platt as Superman. We’re assuming that makes the Hamilton star Iron Man … or maybe Thor, since he consistently brings the musical thunder. Either way, he’s definitely not Hawkeye.

And the collaboration between the two musicals extends beyond Miranda and Platt. In the official “Found/Tonight” video, fans can spot Hamilton director Thomas Kail as well as Justin Paul, one-half of the Dear Evan Hansen songwriting team Pasek and Paul, who are also responsible for the box-office musical smash The Greatest Showman. We only wish that we could have been in the room where that epic crossover happened.
