Lifetime continues hot streak with Kelly Rowland, Meagan Good rom-com

Lifetime is continuing its streak of star-studded, buzzy made-for-TV movies with The 10th Date.

The two-hour romantic comedy is set to star Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland, Meagan Good (Think Like a Man), singer-songwriter Keri Hilson, Kellee Stewart (The Soul Man), UnREAL’s Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, Emmy nominee and So You Think You Can Dance host Cat Deeley, and Brandon T. Jackson (Tropic Thunder). The film is written and directed by Nzingha Stewart, who’s also directed an episode of UnREAL for the network.

Set in Los Angeles, The 10th Date will follow four friends on their journey to landing the coveted 10th date, aka the date that symbolizes the moment that a man finally feels committed to being in a relationship. Good stars as Gabby who, along with her friends Nell (Stewart), Billie (Hilson), and Margot (Rowland), is an ambitious career woman working at an upscale website run by Deeley’s Maureen in Los Angeles. Dealing with marital issues, work-life balance, and pesky exes, the four of them struggle to navigate the highs and lows of modern dating.

Stewart will also executive produce the film alongside Wendy Finerman (Forrest Gump, The Devil Wears Prada) and Lisa Zupan (Drumline: A New Beat).

Production for the made-for-TV movie began on Sept. 7 and will wrap up in mid-October. The film is set to be released in 2017.

Lifetime’s current, much-discussed slate includes the Beaches remake, a Robert Durst movie, an unauthorized Britney Spears biopic, and Girl in the Box, starring Zelda Williams, which airs on Saturday.
