Rescuer Shares Baby Kangaroo’s Adorable Nighttime Routine

If you're a parent, you know how important it is for young children to have a bedtime routine at the end of the day. It's the same thing with fur babies, especially young ones. Jackie is a baby orphaned kangaroo who lives with her caretaker who works with Cobb's Exotic Animal Rescue in Calgary, Alberta. He shared a video on Thursday, March 14th showing Jackie's nighttime routine, and it's adorable!

Jackie's routine begins with a round of zoomies - it's important for her to get all of her energy out. She then asks her dad for 'uppies' which I'm guessing end in cuddles before she gets a bottle of milk and gets 'milk drunk'. The routine ends the way all parents hope it will, with the baby sleeping soundly. And she looks so cute!

I'd love to see more of Jackie's day...she's such a cutie. Her zoomies were the best, and she is already so fast! The Rescue said in the caption that they do this same routine every night, and I think that her dad is very lucky to get to do it! @Vanessa Martinez said, "Not what I expected to see but it was an amazing surprise!" @Nora Watzke spoke for all of us when she said, "Now I want one!"

Facts About Baby Kangaroos

Commenter @Beth Egdall wondered, "Why don't they stay with mom?" and Jackie's dad responded, "Mom kicked her out. They still see each other at the farm." Although it's sad to think this joey (the official name for a baby kangaroo) was orphaned by mom, Jackie seems to be very happy with her adopted dad. It sure looks like she's thriving!

I did some quick research to learn more about these babies. A-Z Animals shared some fun facts that I found interesting. When born, a joey is only the size of a lima bean, and depends on mom for everything for several months. It won't leave her pouch for months. A-Z also explained something surprising; joeys are born potty trained, "Baby kangaroos can’t go to the bathroom unless their mom licks them to give them the sensation to go. Although this sounds less than appealing, the babies only produce at most a drop or two of waste at a time on account of how tiny they are."

Although the joey will live in mom's pouch until it's about a year old, it will begin to venture out and sometimes pop its head out to see what's going on in the world.

Baby kangaroos are so cute! I love learning random animal facts and hope to learn more about joeys. I'll enjoy watching Jackie grow, and hope they continue these cute videos of her...I'd love to see what her morning routine looks like!
