Nearly 1 Million Pressure Cookers Sold Nationwide Have Been Recalled Due to Burn Risk
The recall affects Insignia Multi-Function Pressure Cookers sold at Best Buy and Amazon.
Pressure cookers are a crowd favorite way to get dinner on the table fast. But if you have one in your kitchen, you may want to check the model number before putting it to use. Best Buy just recalled 1 million pressure cookers due to potential burn risk.
The recalled product, which is sold under the Insignia brand, has incorrect volume markings on the inner pot. This may lead to consumers overfilling the pot, causing hot food and liquids to be ejected when the pressure cooker is vented or opened while its contents are pressurized, according to a release by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The recall affects Insignia Multi-Function Pressure Cookers with model numbers NS-MC60SS8, NS-MC60SS9, or NS-MC80SS9. Inner cooker pots with model numbers NS-MCRP6NS9 and NS-MCRP6SS9, which were sold separately as replacements, have also been recalled. The electric pressure cookers and inner cooker pots are 6- and 8-quart capacity.
To date, Best Buy has received 31 reports of incidents during which the contents were expelled under pressure. Of the reports, 17 involved burn injuries, including some reports of second-degree and severe burns, CPSC reports.
The pressure cookers were sold in Best Buy stores nationwide, as well as online on Best Buy's website and Amazon from October 2017 through June 2023. Consumers who own one of the recalled pressure cookers should immediately stop using the appliance and contact Best Buy for a free replacement of the inner pot and floating locking valve.
