After filing for a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, Keke Palmer’s security video footage is used as evidence for alleged domestic abuse. The Nope star is also seeking sole custody of their eight-month-old son Leonis.
Keke Palmer and Darius Jackson met through Darius’ sister, Sarunas Jackson, who starred in Issa Rae’s HBO series Insecure. Keke had a guest star appearance on the show, and she reportedly met Darius during a Memorial Day weekend party in 2021. Keke announced that she was pregnant on Saturday Night Live in December 2022 and gave birth to Leonis Andrellton Jackson on February 25, 2023.

Court documents obtained by Us Weekly and People show that Keke Palmer is accusing her ex-boyfriend of domestic abuse in “many instances.” She also included security footage from cameras as evidence for the court hearing soon.

What was found on Keke Palmer’s security footage? Keke Palmer filed the restraining order on Thursday, November 9, 2023, where she recounts several instances of Darius Jackson abusing her.
The declaration stated, “Darius trespassed into my home without my knowledge or consent, threatened me, then physically attacked me — lunging for my neck, striking me, throwing me over the couch, and stealing my phone when I told him I was going to call the police.”
The declaration includes screenshots of what appears to be security footage of a man striking a woman over a sofa. One instance also included “home security footage [from] February 13, 2022 when Darius body slammed me onto the stairs by my neck.”
Keke alleged that there were “many instances of physical violence, including striking and grabbing me around the neck, descriptions of Darius destroying my personal property, including diaries and prescription eyeglasses, throwing my belongings into the street, throwing my car keys to prevent me from driving away, hitting my in front of our son, spewing profanities about me to our son, threatening to kill himself with a gun if I left him, harassment, and other physical and emotional abuse.”
On November 5, 2023, Darius went her home to take Leodis to a football game, but the 8-month-old was not home since he was at Keke’s family’s house. Darius allegedly “knocked me backwards over the couch, stole my phone out of my hands, and then ran out of the house.” Keke affirmed that the incident was “captured by my home security camera, which will be played for the Court at the time of the hearing.” When she tried to retrieve her phone, she recounted that “he nearly hit me with his car.”
In April 2022, Keke recalled that Darius accused her of flirting with a woman and retaliated. “Darius grabbed my prescription eyeglasses away from me, threw them on the ground and stomped on them. He then opened my bag, threw all of my belongings onto the pavement in the rain, and threw my car keys across the parking lot before he got into his own car and drove off,” the document reads.
“The abuse during our relationship was not just physical, but emotional and manipulative,” the filing for the restraining order reads. “Darius would ‘love bomb’ me and make me feel like I was the most important woman in the world, only to get extremely distant and cold over a perceived insult to him. If we were at a party or event, and I spoke with one person too long or looked at someone a “certain way”, he would storm off in a rage – telling me I was ‘slut’ and a ‘whore,’ accuse me of cheating on him, and that I did not love him. Darius had a way of gaslighting me to make me feel like I was doing something wrong even though I wasn’t.”

What happened between Keke Palmer, Darius Jackson, & Usher?
Fans pointed out Darius Jackson’s behavior when Keke posted on Instagram about her Usher experience at one of his Las Vegas residency concerts, “I wish I had taken more pictures but we were running late! I am telling y’all right now, if you haven’t seen @usher YOU MUST GO!! HE WAS SO FABULOUS!! Giving theater, Atlanta downnn, tips and tricks and just absolutely iconic. I was truly inspired as a performer. I whooped some ass in spades too! Where is that pic of us all together with the King himself?? @noraradd”
Usher replied in the comments, “The Big Boss!! Thank U for coming 🙏🏾” However, Keke’s ex-boyfriend’s response startled the Internet and caused so much backlash. Usher revealed that Keke was going to star in his new music video for his new song “Boyfriend.” She stares at herself in a mirror, while Usher sings, “Somebody said that your boyfriend’s looking for me.” Usher wrote, “when fantasies become reality”, in his caption when he shared the teaser video.
In the original Instagram video, Keke is serenaded by the “My Boo” singer in a sheer black Givenchy dress and is enjoying her time with the music legend. Darius quote tweeted the video on Twitter, “It’s the outfit tho.. you a mom.” Lots of Twitter users came in for Keke’s defense. “MOM, not wife😂😂😂😂 i suggest you shut up,” one user tweeted. “Unless there is a ring on that woman’s finger, you don’t have a place, man,” another Twitter user wrote. “And even if y’all was married, not a solid look publicly shaming the mother of your child for her outfit choice. Possession doesn’t usually go well in relationships, and you’re with an extremely famous person. Better grow thicker skin.” Another reply said, “Don’t date a baddie if you’re gonna be this insecure.”
The day after he quote tweeted the video, Darius made a subsequent tweet. “We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is. This is my family & my representation. I have standards & morals to what I believe. I rest my case.” More backlash ensued on the Internet and Darius deleted his social media accounts. The accounts reappeared days later, but fans noticed that Darius didn’t follow Keke on social media and he wiped all pictures of her on his account.
In an interview with the Cut, Keke said, “I’ll be honest, I think before I even had the baby, I was really actually quite self-conscious,” she said. “After having my baby, I’ve gotten so much more powerful. We’re going to lean into this new body, and I think that is the whole aura of what’s happening with me in this big boss era as I come into my 30s, and I have my baby boy, and I’m just continuing to spread my wings as a young woman.”
