Lifeguard shortage at California state parks reminds swimmers to wear life jackets

People across Northern California enjoyed cooling off in the water on Memorial Day, whether it was at the American or Sacramento rivers, or area lakes in state parks. While lounging by the lake is meant to be fun and relaxing, California State Parks reports drowning is the leading cause of accidental death in state parks. Even though there are three lifeguard stands on the beach at Folsom Lake, there's only one lifeguard to keep a watch on everyone here enjoying the lake. Due to a staff shortage, there aren't as many lifeguards on duty. KCRA 3's Michelle Bandur reports.
