Life-threatening injury after rollover on I-35

May 6—Two people were injured Monday afternoon — one with critical injuries —after a vehicle rollover on Interstate 35 south of Albert Lea.

Jesma Roberta Hopper, 70, and John Albert Hopper, 71, both of Wichita, Kansas, were taken to Mayo Clinic Health System for their injuries. Jesma Hopper's injuries were considered life-threatening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Her condition as of Monday night was unknown.

The crash report states John Hopper was the driver of the 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 and Jesma Hopper was the passenger. The vehicle was northbound on I-35 when it left the roadway and rolled.

Both occupants were wearing their seatbelts, and alcohol was not a factor. The road was dry at the time of the crash.

The Freeborn County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota Department of Transportation, Mayo Ambulance and Glenville Fire Department responded to the scene.
