Liberty Utilities mobilizes 100 workers to restore power amidst storm aftermath

JOPLIN, Mo. — Liberty Utilities continues to work to restore power in the area.

Representatives say the company started with more than 17,000 outages after the storm.

Now he says that number has decreased to 2,800 customers.

Liberty has 100 workers trying to restore the power and also brought in extra contractors to help get the job done faster.

Company officials say the weather can also play a big part in the restoration process but workers will continue to work safely to bring power back.

Local residents are waiting for the lights to come back on and get back to their normal routine.

“To see a large amount of work being accomplished even our own internal men like to see, workers like to see the volume of work and the customers getting on faster. So, it’s a lift for all of us as we get those customers on as fast as possible,” said Sam McGarrah, Director of Planning and Asset Management, Liberty Utilities.

“Just I’m just more worried about getting power back hooked back up so that we can do laundry and all that stuff,” said Aaron Surgi, Joplin resident without power.

McGarrah recommends customers follow updates on their website, here.
