Liberty University announces project for new campus hub, ‘The Champion Center’

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR)– Liberty University’s new facility, ‘The Champion Center’ is planned to be the campus’s new central hub and a place for visitors, students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community.

The new 68,000 square-foot facility, which will be located next to the Hancock Welcome Center, will serve multiple functions on campus, all with the goal of presenting and preserving the university’s mission of ‘Training Champions for Christ.’

According to their plans, the university will put a 360-degree screen to show prospective students and guests what Liberty has to offer. They’ll also have a ‘Rising Flame Theater,’ capable of seating 270 people, along with a stage and an 1,800-square-foot curved screen. The new build also features a prayer room and a ‘Path of Champions’ with interactive displays and videos showing graduates in their chosen career fields.

The Champion Center is planned to become a large part of campus life and visitor events, as spaces for gathering and student-lounges will be opened. This includes a 24,000 square-foot rooftop plaza with Wi-Fi accessibility, fire pits, and a view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
