He’s one of the biggest names in rock and roll, set to launch a solo album next month that will rocket him back into the spotlight, and today it has been announced that former-Oasis front man Liam Gallagher will be headlining the annual Snowbombing music festival in Mayrhofen, Austria, next April.

A far cry from his comfort zone in the muddy fields of summer events like Glastonbury, Snowbombing is a festival with a snowy twist – gigs are held in Alpine forests, cable cars and high-altitude igloos.

“I’m really looking forward to playing Snowbombing in 2018,” said Gallagher. “There’s no business like snow business.”

Today’s announcement comes as the Mancunian prepares to release his first solo album, As You Were, in October.

Joining the outspoken rocker in Mayrhofen from April 9 to 14 2018 will be a line-up of acts across all musical genres. Grime star Dizzee Rascal will be there, as well as garage and RnB star Craig David, who have 26 UK top 10 singles between them – it appears Snowbombing has pulled out all the stops to make the 2018 line-up the best yet.

Celebrities' favourite ski resorts

Gallagher is currently undertaking a gruelling schedule of gigs around the world. Most exciting for skiers and snowboarders with a passion for 90’s rock and roll will be the new date in April – 15 years after the release of Oasis’s debut album, Definitely Maybe.

It’s yet to be revealed whether Gallagher, who recently claimed to be the greatest living rock icon, will join fans on a pair of skis or a snowboard, but there’s no doubt he’ll be livening up the Austrian slopes with his antics – it’s sure to be a show to remember.
