LG G2 Release Date

LG’s next-generation flagship G2 smartphone left a lot of us puzzled when it debuted last month. It looks like a fine phone, don’t get us wrong, but LG put a lot of emphasis on things like moving the volume buttons to the back of the phone, which detracted from anything new and innovative that might have been introduced. Nevertheless, LG’s new superphone is finally making its way to the U.S. and T-Mobile on Thursday announced that it will launch on September 18th online and September 25th in stores. Preorders start immediately and the phone will cost $99.99 down followed by 24 monthly payments of $21 for a steep total of $603.99. Key features include a 5.2-inch full HD 1080p display that stretches nearly all the way to the edges of the phone, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization, a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 4G LTE-Advanced support, a 3,000 mAh battery and Android Jelly Bean. T-Mobile’s press release follows below.

LG And Verizon Wireless Launch Next-Generation Powerhouse, LG G2 Smartphone

Breakthrough Rear-Key Design, Intelligent Features And Powerful Software Make LG G2 The Ultimate Smartphone For Conquering Life’s Everyday Challenges

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., Sept. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ – LG Electronics USA and Verizon Wireless today announced the official U.S. launch of the LG G2, LG’s latest flagship smartphone as part of LG’s newly branded “G” series of premium devices and the first U.S. smartphone to launch with the new Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 800 processor.

Available through Verizon Wireless beginning on Sept. 12 for $199.99 with a new two-year contract, the LG G2 blends an intuitive rear-key design with intelligent features and powerful software to create an exceptional user experience ideal for taking mobile multi-tasking to the next level.

“The smartphone is our constant companion, our go-to for entertainment, organization, communication and capturing memories,” said James Fishler, senior vice president, marketing, LG Electronics USA. “With the G2, LG has taken into consideration all of these behaviors and used them to create an evolved mobile device that provides tangible user benefits truly designed for how people use their devices.”

The LG G2′s innovative design is a first of its kind. Eliminating the need for multiple navigation buttons, the LG G2 is equipped with a single refined rear key that serves as the command center for power and volume functions. The device’s sleek and super-slim body provides comfortable, one-hand gripping and its near-zero bezel delivers edge-to-edge viewing on an expansive 5.2-inch Full HD IPS display.

Sporting an impressive 13 megapixel Full HD camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), the LG G2 gives users the freedom to capture crystal clear images without having to pause photo-worthy moments already in motion. Powered by the industry’s most advanced mobile chipset, the Qualcomm®Snapdragon™ 800 Processor, the LG G2 goes beyond smartphone standards to deliver stunning performance, rich graphics and outstanding battery efficiency.

An intuitive LG G2 user experience gives consumers a wide selection of optimized software. With the “Knock On” feature, users can bring the LG G2 to life or set it to sleep mode by simply tapping the screen with their fingertip. The “Answer Me” feature automatically answers calls when the LG G2 is raised to one’s ear, reducing the number of missed calls caused by accidentally hitting a wrong button. The “Slide Aside” feature allows for faster, more efficient multi-tasking by giving users the ability seamlessly transition between open apps.
