Lexington sees its 5th fatal crash this year, the first involving a motorcycle

A 30-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle crash Tuesday morning, according to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office.

The wreck happened around 10:30 a.m. at 1014 Eastland Drive, according to Lexington police Lt. Joe Anderson. He said it was a single-vehicle motorcycle crash and no transports to a hospital were made.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office confirmed later Tuesday that the crash resulted in a fatality. The coroner identified the motorcyclist as Dakoda Evans, 30.

Evans was declared dead at 11:03 a.m. at the scene of the crash from multiple blunt force injuries. The coroner said Evans’ death is being investigated as an accident.

LPD’s Collision Reconstruction Unit was called to the scene to investigate the wreck and an investigation is ongoing, Anderson said.

This is the fifth fatal crash in Lexington this year, the first in nearly a month, according to data from Kentucky State Police. This is the first fatal wreck involving a motorcycle in Lexington this year.

In 2023, 52 people died in fatal collisions in Fayette County, according to KSP data. That is the highest number of deaths from crashes recorded in a single year in Fayette County since KSP began tracking deadly crashes in 2010.
