A great St. Patrick Day’s Parade

We would like to personally and publicly thank every single person and family who came out on March 16 to enjoy perfect California weather in Ventura for the 2024 County Ventura St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The theme was “Shamrocks & Shenanigans!” and there was plenty of both.

We were overwhelmed to see such an enormous amount of community support for this fun event. Main Street was packed with happy families enjoying a sunny day and a truly epic parade.

All rejoiced as the 66 entries made their way down Main from Lincoln to Fir. Joining the parade were people in every vehicle imaginable, from a big, shiny, low-emission trash truck to vintage cars, horses, tractors, trucks, boats, motorcycles, and even wheelbarrows. Plus, there was a fly-over helicopter from the Coast Guard stationed here in Ventura County.

Honestly, what a day. And we couldn’t have done it without the cooperation of so many — starting with our sponsors, including US Bank, Mechanics Bank and Citizens Business Bank, Dargan’s, the Busy Bee Café and The Saloon, E.J. Harrison & Sons, Bunnin Chevrolet, Rolls Scaffold, CSU Channel Islands, Assured Partners, Ventura Party Rentals, Signs Now, Custom Printing, Kirby Auto Group, WhizCom Marketing and CAPS. Visit our website to see the full sponsor list; we hope you will support these great companies with your very important spending decisions.

Special thanks to the city of Ventura; to our founder, Jim Monahan; to Elks Lodge No. 1430, our charter host (since 1987); and to 2024 parade grand marshal Elena Brokaw.

March 16 turned out to be a truly extraordinary day in Ventura. Even after the parade ended, it was delightful to see the massive crowds of folks walking from the parade route to our beautiful historic downtown, to grab a bite to eat and continue the celebration.

Trump could borrow from kids

All the news portraying Donald Trump having a problem financing his fond during his conviction and appeal for fraud in the amount of a $454 million, here’s one solution: I would think his daughter and son-in-law, Ivanka and Jared Kushner, who received $2 billion from the Saudis, would be happy to help dad out and could cover his bond. Isn’t that what are families for?
