Letterman’s ‘Top 10 Reasons I Decided to Become a Teacher’ (VIDEO)

David Letterman had a special Top 10 List last week that paid homage to America's great teachers. Education, Letterman said, "is the most important thing facing America today."

To show his support for teachers, the Late Show host brought on ten Teach for America teachers who gave tongue-in-cheek reasons as to why they chose to become educators.

"We should all be eternally grateful for the hard work that these people do," Letterman said.

Teach for America is unique in that it recruits recent college graduates, mid-career professionals, and veterans to become teachers (for at least two years) in low-income communities. Started by Wendy Kopp, the organization began in 1990 with the mission to ensure that kids growing up in poverty get an excellent education.
