Letter: Women have the power to turn Ohio around

Letter to the editor

Ohio continues to underestimate the ones who procreated them.

It is clear enough that Ohioans are so used to being manipulated by their governor, that losing their civil rights has become the way of life.

Ohioans should never underestimate the power of a woman, because nothing is impossible to a determined woman.

The glass ceiling continues to affect women today, but with forced attention to gender equality, women are breaking through this invisible ceiling to effect change in the political and corporate world because of women's strength and intelligence. A woman must never accept, she must challenge.

It took nearly 100 years for the women's suffrage movement to win the right to vote.

The feminine mystique movement described the pervasive dissatisfaction among women.

And we in Ohio are in need of a strong coordinated feminist movement, that could, to some degree, mitigate the lack of party effectiveness in increasing women's political participation.

Such a movement could work to recruit more women candidates, put pressure on elected officials, speak for women as a group, and push for policy to continue progress toward gender equality.

Remember, women don't need magic to transform our world. We carry all the power we need inside ourselves already.
