Letter: Republicans are part of what is wrong with America

I must say that Dave Sutton’s Feb. 23 column was quite the stream of consciousness. Korea, Vietnam, Jimmy Carter, Planned Parenthood, abortion, video games, Obama, gateway drugs, Common Core, liberal arts colleges, social media, term limits, concerts, smutty movies: It’s all in there!

We also learned that upward mobility means “running over anyone in front of you whether in a public place, your car or your workplace.” That might be a good description of how our 45th president came into office. Curiously, Donald Trump and other Republican presidents are absent from Mr. Sutton’s litany of everything that’s wrong with America.

Republicans have had regular turns in office and ample opportunity to fix everything. Mr. Sutton did mention voting and monitoring state government activities. I would point out here that Republicans have controlled the Pennsylvania Legislature for the last 12 years, and 24 out of the last 28 years. So if we want to make changes, turning Republicans out of the Legislature would be as good of a place to start as any.
