LETTER: We must end the violence of abortion

In Roe vs. Wade in 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court legalized abortion on demand in all states. This unconstitutional ruling trampled states’ rights, overruling 30 states. Since then, 62 million babies have died by abortion.

Abortion proponents deceive people by claiming the baby in the womb is just a “clump of cells” and not a baby. This lie has been exposed by scientific evidence of the stages of the baby’s development and ultrasounds.

“At the moment of conception,” a baby’s gender, eye color, hair, ethnicity, and other traits are determined by the baby’s DNA. The heart is beating by about 18-21 days. By six weeks, brain waves, fingers, a mouth/lips exist. By 10-11 weeks, there are nerves, eyelids, fingernails/fingerprints. By 20 weeks, the baby responds to music/voices. These developmental stages confirm the preborn baby is a person.

Not only is science clear, but the Bible is also clear that God considers the preborn baby a person. “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13). “… Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be” (Psalm 139:16).

Many were deceived, uninformed, and in some cases forced into abortion and now feel regrets and depression. For those needing help/healing, there’re many organizations available including Rachel’s Vineyard, Silent No More Awareness Campaign, and www.hopeafterabortion.org. A loving and merciful God also is there for them.

Help spread the “truth.” Be a part of changing hearts, saving lives, and ending the violence of abortion.
