Leslie Jones Addresses Twitter Harassment
In the days following the release of the new Ghostbusters movie, actress Leslie Jones has received a lot of abuse via social media in the form of racist and sexist posts both to and about her. Jones fought back and began speaking publicly about what she’s been dealing with.
About the personal attacks, Jones said, “What scared me was the injustice of a gang of people jumping against you for such a sick cause.”
In recent days, Jones has reached out to Facebook and Twitter in bid for better security and protection against harassment for users. She especially wants to protect those without celebrity status who don’t have a platform to speak out the way that she did.
Since speaking out, Jones has received messages of love and support from fans of all ages. Some even dressed as Ghostbusters in video messages sent to the actress.
