Leroy Bears Championship Football Team to Hold Public Ring Ceremony

Leroy, Ala (WRKG) – The Leroy High School football team will continue celebrating their back-to-back championship seasons with a public ring ceremony on Sunday, March 24 at 3 pm, according to a press release. The ceremony will honor the 2023 AHSAA Class 1A championship team, who finished the season with a perfect 14-0 record for the school’s 11th state title.

The Bears won the title on December 7 with a 28-21 win over the Coosa Christian Conquerors in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Leroy has been dominant through most of the season, winning by an average of 26.1 points.

Offensively, the Bears averaged 37.4 points per game and have scored at least 40 points in nine games. On the defensive side of the ball, the Bears allowed an average of 11.3 points per game. They accounted for two shutout performances.

Seven players were selected as members of the All-State team with four named first team.

Leroy accounted for an overall record of 13-1 the season before with a 42-20 championship win over the Pickens County Tornadoes.

The Bears finishes its second season after reclassifying to 1A from 2A.

The ring ceremony will be at Farish Field at Palmer Stadium in Leroy.
