Will Leonard, Penny Have New Neighbors In ‘Big Bang Theory’?

“Big Bang Theory” Season 11 is just a few months away from premiering on CBS, and executive producer responded to one important question from the upcoming episodes.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the exec denied the rumors that new characters will be introduced as Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny’s (Kaley Cuoco) neighbors in their apartment building. In Season 10, the characters arrived in their apartment only to see that everything has been removed.

“Honestly, I pitched it as a ridiculous joke that I need to get out of my head. It was just a visual sight gag on the heels of their lab in the security building being cleaned out for them to then come home and the apartment to appear to be cleaned out as well. It was really nothing more than a joke I thought we would never even do because it sounded difficult to have to empty out our entire set. In fact, we did not empty out our entire set, we rebuilt the apartment on the stage empty,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Molaro spoke with The Hollywood Reporter following the Season 10 finale to say that Season 11 will somewhat start on a fresh page for all of the characters in the hit CBS sitcom.

“What’s nice about Season 11 is we’re on a fresh page in a lot of their lives and we’re ready to start some new adventures personally and professionally and it’s going to be fun to dig into that. Bernadette and Howard are still figuring out how to be parents; Penny seems a little unhappy at her job; Leonard and all the guys are ready to take on the next scientific frontier that they’re going to tackle. It’s seems like it’s ripe for them to boldly go wherever they’re going to boldly go,” he said.

“Big Bang Theory” Season 11 will also reveal whether or not Amy (Mayim Bialik) accepted Sheldon’s (Jim Parsons) proposal in the Season 10 finale. Unfortunately, Molaro said that they haven’t decided how to write this story for Season 11. But whatever they end up doing will definitely open more possibilities for both characters and their respective families.

“Big Bang Theory” Season 11 will premiere on CBS on Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. EST.
