Lena Dunham, Uzo Aduba Among Stars Supporting Hillary Clinton in New Video
Lena Dunham, Rosie Perez and Uzo Aduba, along with a group of other actors appeared in a video supporting Hillary Clinton and speaking out on the need for more women in public office.
Released by grassroots organization Humanity for Hillary on Monday, the video, called #ThisIsWhatMyRevolutionLooksLike, launched on the first day of the Democratic National Convention.
The actors, including several other Orange is the New Black stars, discussed what their revolution looks like, highlighting the need for equal pay, family leave and a woman’s right to choose.
“It looks like women finally having a seat at the table, at the head of the table,” Dunham said. Added Natasha Lyonne: “It means the leadership of this country finally getting somewhat closer to reflecting who makes up half this country.”
The group also addressed the lack of women in leadership roles in the U.S.
“Women made up 53% of all voters in the last election,” Uzo Aduba said. “And yet we only make up 19.4% of our Congress? What the f—?”
Several celebrities including Dunham, Katy Perry and America Ferrera, will attend the Democratic National Convention this week, where Clinton is expected to accept the Democratic nomination for president.
