Lena Dunham Cancels Tour With Waxahatchee, Citing Health

Dunham: “I’m in the greatest amount of physical pain that I have ever experienced”

By Jazz Monroe.

Lena Dunham has cancelled her upcoming Lenny: America IRL Tour with Waxahatchee’s Katie Crutchfield for health reasons. Dunham, who has been undergoing treatment for endometriosis, wrote in her newsletter Lenny Letter, “My body, which I’ve worked through all kinds of pain for many years, just doesn’t have what it takes to do this tour. Lenny is about giving 100 percent of ourselves, 100 percent of the time, and I couldn’t bear to limp through this.” She went on to explain that, despite being told she had been “endometriosis-free,” the disease has been “found in deeper spots that required immediate surgery and now physical therapy.” She wrote, “To be honest, I’m in the greatest amount of physical pain that I have ever experienced.” Tickets will be refunded in full.

Crutchfield had previously shared an open letter explaining the decision to tour. “We will be giving a significant amount of the proceeds to numerous organizations benefitting the LGBTQ communities that are local to the cities we are performing in—this is, hands down, the biggest reason that I agreed to do this,” she wrote.
