RB Leipzig need to attack and go to the limit if they want to upset record winners Real Madrid in the Champions League last 16 on Wednesday in Spain, coach Marco Rose has said.

Leipzig lost the reverse fixture 1-0 at home but are not giving up hope that they can turn around matters at the Bernabeu.

"We will have to seek our salvation in attack. We also have to impose our pace on the game. We'll have to push ourselves to the limit in all areas," Rose told reporters on Tuesday.

"We shouldn't just hope for it, we should also believe in it. We have to believe that we can put in an exceptionally strong performance on the pitch, but we also need luck."

Leipzig's Spanish player Dani Olmo said that he had a "bittersweet" feeling after the first leg in which Leipzig had a goal nullified but that he was now very motivated.

"It's a special scenario, the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 here at the Santiago Bernabéu. Of course I hope we win," he said.

Olmo said that his team expects an attacking Madrid team and that "our game has to be perfect to advance. We hope that we are efficient and effective."
