You probably can't afford a Bugatti Chiron. Priced at nearly $3 million, the hand-built French hypercar is about as expensive and exclusive as they come.

But now you can hand-build one of your own, thanks to Lego Technic.

Feast your eyes on the latest large-format kit from Lego's intricately detailed Technic line. This Chiron kit, comprised of 3599 pieces and designed with input from the folks who make the real-life Bugatti, is a delight to behold. Measuring 22 inches long and nine inches wide when fully assembled, the 1:8-scale model is chock full of functional details.

Yep, that's a real W16 engine with moving Lego pistons. It's attached to a working eight-speed gearbox with moving paddle shifters, all snapped into a chassis that faithfully recreates the real-life Chiron's suspension design.

And yes, it's incredibly difficult to render the Chiron's curves in Lego pieces. But Technic designers relish that kind of challenge. Here's Bugatti design director Achim Anscheidt admiring the result:

Like any automobile, Lego recommends the Chiron kit for ages 16 and over. With nearly 4000 pieces, you can bet this won't be a quick build. But that's just part of the fun. The kit is available online or in Lego stores now. At $350, it's not cheap-but then again, no Bugatti is.
