Legalizing cannabis prevents opioid deaths, but Suzanne Crouch blames Biden instead

I recently was stunned by Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch’s television ad for her gubernatorial campaign in which she blamed President Biden for Hoosier fentanyl deaths. How misleading her reasoning is!

The reason my fellow Hoosiers are dying from fentanyl is directly related to her Republican legislators not enacting legislation to legalize cannabis. When it is not legal, street purchases of available drugs are the cause of fentanyl deaths.

When cannabis is monitored through legalization, it is not enhanced with other more dangerous additives to give more bang for the buck. State-controlled cannabis sales would protect consumers from harm. All Crouch has to do is cross state borders to Illinois, Michigan, or Ohio and see would see a plethora of Hoosier license plates at those state-controlled dispensaries. Most of these Hoosiers are elderly and disabled. They are seeking pain relief not available in their own state.

Crouch should quit telling lies. She should shoulder responsibility for her part in the fentanyl deaths perpetrated by her party’s inability to deal with the 21st century. Her Republican Party is out of date, out of tune with her fellow Hoosiers and perhaps out of solutions for ending the deaths she castigates Biden for.

Her obeisance to Trump has clouded her judgment. Even Mike Pence refuses to endorse Trump, whose ideas Crouch espouses!
