President Joe Biden had a tit for tat with a reporter about abortion and the 2024 presidential election after delivering Earth Day remarks at Prince William Forest Park in Triangle, Virginia, alongside progressive lawmakers Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA), and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

“Do you need the abortion issue to win the election?” a reporter asked the president following the Monday afternoon speech.

“No, I need the abortion issue just to follow what’s right,” the president responded.

“What will your legacy be on abortion?” the same reporter followed up.

“What will your legacy be as a newsperson?” Biden hit back after he took a moment to pause and laugh.

The president also took questions from other reporters about the pro-Palestinian protests and encampments at college campuses, including Columbia and Yale University. “I condemn the antisemitic protests,” Biden said. “I also condemn those who don’t understand what’s going on with the Palestinians.”
