Lebanon County man sentenced after sextortion investigation

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – A Lebanon man will spend a year and a half in a federal prison for threatening to release someone’s intimate images if they did not pay $150,000.

John Anthony Zayas, 35, of Lebanon, pleaded guilty to federal charges of extortion by interstate communication.

Zayas, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania said, attempted to coerce a victim to pay $150,000 in the fall of 2022. If the victim did not pay, he threatened to disseminate intimate photos of the victim.

He was sentenced this week by U.S. District Court Judge Sylvia Rambo to serve 18 months in prison, followed by a year of supervised release and an $850 fine.

The case was investigated by the FBI.
