(WHTM) – A man from the Midstate will spend nearly four years in federal prison for his role in the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol in 2021.

Leo Brent Bozell IV, 44, of Palmyra, was sentenced to 45 months in prison followed by three months of supervised release.

Bozell was convicted on four felony charges in September after a tipster identified him from the “Hershey Christian Academy” sweatshirt he wore during the riot.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Bozell assisted rioters as they assaulted police officers and charged into the building.

“Along the way, Bozell picked up a heavy metal object from the ground,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a release. “Bozell rushed to the Senate Wing Door, making him one of the first rioters to reach the Capitol building. He used the heavy metal object and immediately started bashing the windowpane, striking it at least ten times and shattering the glass.”

They said he helped hundreds of rioters enter the building.

Once inside, Bozell made his way into Nancy Pelosi’s office and then into the Senate gallery.

He spent an hour inside the building.

Bozell was “a major contributor to the chaos, the destruction, and the obstruction at the Capitol on January 6, 2021,” prosecutors said in a pretrial court filing.

Bozell’s father is Brent Bozell III, who founded the Media Research Center, Parents Television Council and other conservative media organizations.

Since the riot, over 1,424 people have been charged and authorities continue to investigate.
