The Least Efficient Cars You Can Buy Today, by Class

Considering the Chiron is powered by a quad-turbo 8.0-liter W16 making 1500 horsepower, it's no surprise to see it at the top of the EPA's list. At just 11 combined MPG, it's the least-efficient new car you can buy.

Though it's classed as a Minicompact, the GTC4Lusso is not small. It's a full-size GT car with a luxurious cabin and four usable seats. Hiding under that lengthy hood is a 6.3-liter naturally aspirated V12 which, as you can imagine, isn't very good on gas.

Considering the size of the Continental, we're surprised to see it's classed as a subcompact. It must come down to the door count. But no matter where it's classed, 14 MPG isn't very much.

Despite being faster and more powerful than its base counterpart, the Continental Supersports manages to eke out the same combined MPG figure from its 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12.

At over 17 feet long, the Rolls-Royce Dawn is hardly "compact." Despite its class, it puts out the same lackluster 14 MPG as its Bentley competition. Drinking all that fuel is a twin-turbo 6.6-liter V12 making 563 horsepower.

Only in the world of ultra-luxury cars can a $200,000 sedan look affordable. Don't think for a second, though, that there's anything cheap about the Flying Spur. The W12 S version can top 200 mph while you sit in absolute comfort. Here's a V8 model listed for just under a quarter-million dollars.

Of course, the Phantom isn't the only big-bodied ultra-luxury sedan you can buy from the UK. There's also the Mulsanne. It's powered by a 6.75-liter twin-turbo V-8 with 811 lb.-ft. of torque and a 4500-RPM redline. Here's one for sale right now on eBay.

If you like the Rolls-Royce Ghost but wish it was a bit more sporty, then the Wraith is the car for you. It's one of the best grand tourers money can buy, and you can still pick from all the regular Rolls options like the starlight headliner. This one's painted in a beautiful blue, and can be yours.

Because the Ghost and Ghost Extended Wheelbase used the same twin-turbo 6.6-liter V12 as the Wraith and the Dawn, they also make the EPA's list. The only real difference is the door count.

Many consider the Phantom the most luxurious car you can buy, hands-down. We're inclined to agree. It has every comfort feature you could ever desire, plus so much more. This extended wheelbase model is listed for a staggering $642,000.

The V60 Polestar checks a lot of boxes-just not the most important one. It's super-fun to drive, but having a transmission you can shift yourself would make it even more fun.
