EVANS CITY, Pa. (AP) — Emergency crews say a crash between a rural transit bus and a freight train in western Pennsylvania injured at least 10 people.
Those on the bus were being taken to hospitals, some in the Pittsburgh area.
The crash occurred about 8:10 a.m. Friday at an unmarked crossing in Evans City, about 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. Police say they're investigating whether dense fog contributed to the accident. It was not immediately clear if the bus drove into the train, or vice versa.
According to media reports, the Butler Area Rural Transit bus was carrying people with developmental disabilities as part of a reduced-free transportation program run by the Alliance For Nonprofit Resources in Butler. Officials there didn't immediately return calls Friday.
