3 dead, including 1 child, after Lawrence County house fire

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Three people were killed in a house fire in Lawrence County Thursday morning.

The fire happened at a home on Morgan Road in the New Prospect community outside Lawrenceburg shortly after 7:45 a.m. on Thursday, May 9.

According to Lawrence County Fire and Rescue, the first units on scene found a heavily-involved structure fire with multiple occupants trapped inside, so crews launched an aggressive interior attack and a coordinated search effort.

“Despite our best efforts the fire has been deemed fatal,” the department said in a Facebook post.

Officials later told News 2 that three people died in the blaze, including two adults and one child. Their bodies have been sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies, but their identities have yet to be released, pending notification of family.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating the cause of the fire. According to authorities, foul play does not appear to be involved in the incident.
