Learn about the history of Indian Rocks at this Gem of Tampa Bay

INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — If you find yourself in Indian Rocks Beach during your next getaway, make sure you stop by this gem.

It is a little blue and white cottage about two blocks from the beach, which houses the Indian Rocks Historical Museum.

Visitors can walk around, looking at different artifacts, furniture and clothing residents used back in the day.

“Oh, they love it. As soon as they walk in, they say, ‘oh I remember this’ or ‘my grandmother had this’,” Indian Rocks Historical Museum President Ronald Sacra said.

Inside the museum is a Victrola from 1912, a Hoosier cabinet and even an ice box.

“When kids come in, I love to explain how the Victrola works,” Sacra said. “You have no electricity, and you wind it up and you play the music.”

A new exhibit called “Shifting Sands” features a video describing how the barrier islands transformed over the years.

The old Tiki Gardens is also featured, as well as some of the earliest motels that opened in the area.

The Indian Rocks Historical Museum is located at 203 4th Ave N. and is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Admission into the museum is free.
