Leander announces new city manager

LEANDER, Texas (KXAN) — On Thursday, the Leander City Council announced it selected its new city manager.

Todd Parton, a Texas native, was chosen for the role. His first day will be April 16, according to the city.

“I am honored that the Mayor and City Council have placed their confidence in me to serve the City of Leander at such a critical time and look forward to engaging with the community to ensure a bright future for all of our citizens,” Parton said.

According to the city, Parton graduated from the University of North Texas with a bachelor’s degree in emergency administration and planning and a master’s degree in public administration with an emphasis in budget and finance.

According to the city, Parton has more than 19 years of experience in city management.

Parton’s five-year contract includes an annual salary of $275,000, according to the city.

The city said the role of the city manager included:

  • overseeing all city operations and personnel

  • enforcing city policies and procedures

  • managing the city budget

During the search, the city said council members reviewed 71 applicants from 19 states.

“We are thrilled to bring Mr. Parton on as our next city manager,” Leander Mayor Christine DeLisle said. “We had a strong group of candidates, but his keen understanding of strategic planning and fiscal management make him a great fit to lead the City of Leander through our next phase of development.”
