Leah Remini Says Tom Cruise Is Not A Good Person
Leah Remini has opened up about Scientology and its members once again.
The “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath” star openly criticized the Church of Scientology previously and exposed its alleged illegal activities, including “abusive practices” and “sexual abuse.” Remini recently promoted the latest season of her docuseries on Reddit, which sparked another round of discussion, this time involving one of the church’s most prominent members, Tom Cruise.
In the Reddit thread, one follower asked Remini, a former member of Scientology, if the “Top Gun” star was a good person, and she was quick to slam the actor. “No! Just going to get straight to it, no!” Remini replied, before comparing Cruise to Scientology founder David Miscavige and noting that the two “could be twins.”
“There is a public persona of the guy who looks at you directly in the eye and shakes your hand and hugs you and is an attentive person to you and there’s the person behind the mask who is a completely different person. Someone could say we all have that -- what we are to the public and who we are behind the scenes, but the people who are around Tom and work for Tom, not even people who are Scientologists, they will say he is diaboloical,” Remini explained.

But while Remini continues to attack Scientology, another member, Elisabeth Moss, came to its defense. The “Handmaid’s Tale” star was asked on Instagram if she doubts Scientology given that like Gilead, it believes that all outside sources, a.k.a. news, are evil.
“That’s actually not true at all about Scientology,” Moss wrote in the comments section in response. “Religious freedom and tolerance and understanding the truth and equal rights for every race, religion and creed are extremely important to me. The most important things to me probably. And so Gilead and [‘The Handmaid’s Tale’] hit me on a very personal level. Thanks for the interesting question!”
In related news, Remini told The Hollywood Reporter that it is unlikely for Moss to talk to her considering their opposing views of Scientology. “Elisabeth Moss believes that she can’t talk to me [because] I’ve spoken out against Scientology,” she said.
The “Mad Families” actress explained that the Church of Scientology has a practice called “acceptable truth” where the members are only allowed to say what’s acceptable to the public.
When asked if she will greet Moss if they come face-to-face, Remini said she would because she does not hold her decision to follow the church against her. “I would, of course,” she told THR. “I don’t hold anything against Elisabeth Moss other than she’s continuing to support a group that is abusive and destroying families.”
