Lawmakers hold long to-do list in last week of session

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – It’s the final week of the legislative session in Jefferson City, and there are still many priorities to take care of.

According to the Constitution, the General Assembly must adjourn by 6 p.m. Friday night.

In the Senate, members will be debating legislation to change the initiative petition process. In the other chamber, representatives still have to take up and pass the federal reimbursement allowance.

Other pieces of legislation expected to come up for a vote this week include a large bill that criminalizes celebratory gunfire, tax credits for businesses, families, and providers for childcare, provisions to protect children in the foster care system, and requiring pharmaceutical manufacturers to sell drugs at a discount to providers that serve low-income patients.
