Law license ruling set for disgraced ex-journalist

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The California Supreme Court is set to decide whether disgraced former journalist Stephen Glass should be allowed to practice law in the state.

The state's highest court is expected to issue its ruling Monday morning.

In the 1990s, Glass made up all or parts of 42 magazine articles published in the New Republic, Rolling Stone and other publications. His story was the subject of the 2003 film "Shattered Glass."

Now 41, Glass wants to be a California lawyer, but his application for a law license has been pending for six years. A State Bar committee has opposed his application on moral grounds.

Glass argues he has undergone psychotherapy, apologized to publishers and kept out of trouble since 1998. He is currently a paralegal at a Los Angeles law firm.
