Law enforcement officials: Human remains found inside of 1 of 3 cars pulled from river

PENNSAUKEN – Human remains were found inside of one of three cars pulled from Cooper River on Thursday, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed.

Law enforcement officials removed three motor vehicles that were submerged in the river, along North Park Drive to the south of Kaighn Avenue in Pennsauken, a news release from the prosecutor’s office stated.

Detectives subsequently found human remains inside the driver's side area of one of the vehicles. The identity of the individual is pending DNA testing, the release said.

It’s not yet clear how police came to find the vehicles.

Multiple agencies were part of the effort. The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and Pennsauken Police Department were assisted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, New Jersey State Police, Camden County Police Department, Camden County/Bellmawr Dive Team, Camden County Office of Emergency Management, Pennsauken Fire Department, and United Search Corps Missing Persons Unit, the CCPO said.
