Law enforcement memorial service set for May 16 in Bemidji

May 15—BEMIDJI — In observance of National Police Week, the public is invited to a law enforcement memorial service at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, at the Beltrami County Courtyard.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation designating May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as National Police Week, a release said.

The Beltrami County Courtyard is located at the corner of Sixth Street and Beltrami Avenue NW in downtown Bemidji. In the event of rain or hazardous weather, the service will be held at Bemidji Fire Station 1 at 318 Fifth St. NW.
