Laurel man killed in Prince George’s County hit-and-run

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — The Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) said a man from Laurel was killed in a hit-and-run on Sunday.

PGPD said officers responded to the 9000 block of Contee Rd. for a crash involving a pedestrian at about 8:10 p.m. There, a man was in the roadway suffering from trauma.

Medics took the man to the hospital where he died.

He was identified as 55-year-old Barry Mitchell of Laurel.

Police said that the car involved was traveling eastbound on Contee Rd. when it hit Mitchell. The driver did not stay at the scene.
