Laughing Biden Highlighted in Romney Ad

The Romney campaign and several of its supporters took issue with Vice President Joe Biden often smirking and laughing during last week’s debate. Now, the campaign is using Biden’s grin to attack the Obama ticket in a new ad released on Sunday.

The 30-second spot, called “Fiscal Discipline,” shows highlights of Rep. Paul Ryan touting Romney and his economic policies during the debate, zooming in on a smiling Biden.

“We can't keep spending and borrowing like this. We can't just keep spending money we don't have,” Ryan is shown saying, juxtaposed with shots of Biden audibly laughing. “Did they come in and inherit a tough situation? Absolutely. But we're going in the wrong direction. Look at where we are. The economy is barely limping along.”

Ryan was praised by his supporters for being calmer during the presidential debate. Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said he was “embarrassed” for Biden during the debate. But for Biden supporters, it was just the vice president being the vice president.

The Romney campaign did not reveal where or when its ads are running.
