Latvian capital calls on its residents to prepare basements to be used as bomb shelters

Riga City Council in Latvia has called on local residents to organize their basements to adapt them for shelters, LSM reported on April 23.

The Government asks residents to clean basements and underground floors from garbage, debris and other dangerous structures that may pose additional danger to people.

For its part, Riga City Council intends to clean up basements in several municipal buildings on April 27, statement says.

During a press conference at the 49th secondary school, authorities will give recommendations to local residents on how to properly adapt premises to create shelters.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that if Ukraine fails to survive the war against Russia, dictator Vladimir Putin will “definitely invade” the Baltic states on April 21.
