Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro’s return isn’t imminent, but there’s hope that he’ll be able to return before the end of the regular season.

Herro, who has missed the last 10 games, received a a platelet-rich plasma injection Friday to treat his injured right foot and will be re-evaluated in one to two weeks, according to multiple league sources.

A look at the three Spoelstra wants Adebayo to take for Heat: ‘I’m good with him shooting that’

Herro has been listed as out because of right foot medial tendinitis and did not travel with the Heat for its four-game trip that began with a 108-95 win over the Pistons in Detroit on Friday night. The pain in his foot hasn’t subsided and the decision was made to use a PRP injection to help speed up the recovery process.

According to Yale Medicine: “PRP is a therapy produced from the patient’s own blood that is made up of plasma and a high concentration of platelets. It is injected into the injured area, thereby introducing a high concentration of platelets (as well as growth factors and cytokines) to the injury site, helping it heal.”

During this 10-game absence, Herro also dealt with a hyperextended left knee that he has since recovered from. Instead, the foot issue that popped up during the All-Star break is what’s currently keeping Herro out.

Herro, 24, has started in each of his 36 appearances this season. He’s averaging career-highs in points (20.8 per game) and assists (4.4 per game) while shooting 43.7 percent from the field and 39.9 percent on 8.1 three-point attempts per game this season.

When asked on Wednesday whether Herro is making progress in his recovery, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said: “He’s making progress. I don’t have any more for you. But he’s doing everything he needs to do.”

Herro will miss the remainder of the Heat’s current trip that ends Wednesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers and likely some time beyond that. Following this current four-game trip, the Heat has just 13 regular-season games left to play before the start of the postseason.

In addition, the Heat continues to play without backup center Kevin Love, who also did not travel with the team to Detroit for the start of the trip. Friday’s win over the Pistons marked the eighth straight game that Love has missed with a bruised right heel, but he is making positive progress in his recovery.

NEW HEAT INJURIES TO MONITOR

The Heat also has new injuries to monitor, with starters Jimmy Butler and Nikola Jovic added to the injury report for Sunday’s rematch against the Pistons in Detroit (3 p.m., Bally Sports Sun).

Butler is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game because of a right foot contusion. He had his right foot stepped on during Friday’s win over the Pistons, but was able to finish the game.

The right foot was also an issue for Butler earlier this season, when he missed seven straight games in January because of a right toe MP joint sprain.

Jovic has already been ruled out for Sunday’s game because of a strained right hamstring that he sustained toward the end of Friday’s win over the Pistons. With Jovic starting in each of his last 12 appearances, his absence will force another change to the Heat’s starting lineup.

The Heat’s injury report for Sunday’s game against the Pistons looks like this:

Love (right heel bruise), Herro (right foot medial tendinitis), Josh Richardson (right shoulder surgery), Jovic (right hamstring strain), Alondes Williams (G League) and Cole Swider (G League) will miss the contest.

Butler is questionable with a right foot contusion.

Following Sunday’s afternoon game in Detroit, the Heat has a quick turnaround to face the 76ers in Philadelphia on Monday night to complete the road back-to-back set.
