The Latest: Shooting near Utah mall possibly gang related

MURRAY, Utah (AP) — The Latest on a shooting at a Utah mall (all times local):

3:50 p.m.

Utah police say two people are in the hospital after a shooting Sunday outside a popular mall in a Salt Lake City suburb.

Murray Police officer Kenny Bass (bas) says the incident is possibly gang related and they are searching for three suspects.

Bass says the two people were shot at about 1:30 p.m. just outside the southeast entrance to the Fashion Place mall in Murray, which is about 6.6 miles south of the capital. He says the victims were a man and woman in their early 20s. The man is in critical condition and the woman in serious condition.

The shooting triggered the evacuation and closure of the mall home to stores such as Crate and Barrel, Macy's and Nordstrom.

Bass says no other victims or suspects were found inside the mall.

The Fashion Place mall says in a tweet that Sunday's shooting happened outside the shopping center in Murray.

The Salt Lake Tribune newspaper reports officers are searching for the gunman.

The Deseret News newspaper quoted Murray Fire Department officials as saying two people were injured but no additional details were immediately available.

Murray is 6.6 miles (11 kilometers) south of Salt Lake City.

Authorities say a gunman has opened fire at a mall in a suburb of Salt Lake City and that two people were wounded.

The Salt Lake Tribune newspaper reported that officers are searching for the gunman.

The shooting happened Sunday afternoon at the Fashion Place mall in the suburb of Murray.

The Deseret News newspaper quoted Murray Fire Department officials as saying two people were injured but no additional details were immediately available.

Murray is south of Salt Lake City.
