JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — The Latest on earthquakes that have struck Indonesia's Lombok island (all times local):

8 a.m.

A strong earthquake Sunday on the Indonesian island of Lombok has killed at least two people.

National Disaster Mitigation Agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho tweeted Monday that both victims died in collapsed houses, one on Lombok and the other on neighboring Sumbawa island.

The shallow magnitude 6.9 quake that hit just after 10 p.m. was one of several strong tremors that have shaken the northeast part of the island in recent weeks. Sunday's tremor occurred on a different fault and was not an aftershock of the Aug. 5 quake that caused hundreds of deaths.

Power was still off across Lombok, several hours after the quake, and building collapses were reported.

A strong earthquake has cut power across the Indonesian island of Lombok and toppled buildings.

The shallow magnitude 6.9 quake that hit just after 10 p.m. Sunday is one of multiple powerful earthquakes in the northeast of the island that also caused landslides.

The quakes come as the tourist hotspot tries to recover from a temblor earlier this month that killed hundreds of people.

There was no immediate official information about casualties.

The National Disaster Mitigation Agency says power has been cut across the island, hampering efforts to assess the situation.

It says some houses and other buildings have collapsed in Sembalun subdistrict, on the island's northeast in the shadow of Mount Rinjani.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude 6.9 quake struck Sunday night at a depth of 20 kilometers (12 miles).

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

Late Sunday morning, a magnitude 6.3 quake struck the island, still reeling from a quake earlier this month that killed 460 people.

The morning quake caused landslides and damaged buildings, but as of Sunday night there were no reports of injuries or fatalities.
