The Last of Us has confirmed that Riverdale's Spencer Lord and You star Tati Gabrielle have joined the cast for season two.

According to Deadline, the pair have been cast in the upcoming season of HBO's apocalypse survival series alongside Danny Ramirez (Top Gun: Maverick) and Ariela Barer (Runaways).

The actors will play characters from the original video games, with Lord cast as Owen, who is described as "a gentle soul trapped in a warrior's body, condemned to fight an enemy he refuses to hate."

Gabrielle will play Nora, a military medic who is "struggling to come to terms with the sins of her past" and Barer will feature as Mel, a young doctor who is committed to saving lives despite the challenges of "the realities of war and tribalism."

Ramirez has been cast as Manny, a "loyal" soldier whose "sunny outlook belies the pain of old wounds and a fear that he will fail his friends when they need him most."

The group join previously announced cast members Dopesick actress Kaitlyn Dever, who will star as The Last of Us Part II antagonist Abby Anderson, Beef star Young Mazino, Schitt's Creek star Catherine O'Hara and Transformers' Isabela Merced.

Meanwhile, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey will be returning as Joel and Ellie, while Gabriel Luna is also thought to be returning as Joel's brother Tommy.

Season two of The Last of Us will follow the events of the franchise's follow-up game The Last of Us Part II, which sees Joel and Ellie continue their journey through a zombie-ridden America.
