Last day to order free COVID-19 tests

(WJW) – The federal government’s suspension of its at-home COVID-19 test program means time is running out if you want to get them for free.

Friday, March 8, is the last day free tests can be ordered from COVIDtests.gov.

The program is ending due to a drop in COVID-19 hospital admissions and deaths since the start of the year, according to federal data.

A banner on the COVIDtests.gov website states that “ordering for free COVID-19 tests via this website will be suspended after Friday, March 8, 2024. All orders placed on or before March 8 will be delivered.”

The most recent batch of free tests was the sixth round made available.

The change came after the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its coronavirus guidance, eliminating the isolation period.

The new guidance aligns with what health leaders suggest for other respiratory infections.
