Las Vegas visitor count up 2.5 per cent in November; gambling revenue tumbles
LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Officials say about the number of visitors to Las Vegas was up 2.5 per cent in November compared with last year, but gambling tumbled.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority on Thursday said a little more than 3.1 million visitors came to Las Vegas in November.
Room occupancy increased 1.4 per cent, to 80 per cent, and average hotel room rates went up a little less than 1 per cent, to $104 per night.
Meanwhile, Clark County gambling revenues of nearly $672 million were down 13 per cent compared with 2011.
Downtown saw gambling revenue drop 17 per cent, while the Boulder Strip had an even bigger fall at 26 per cent.
The authority says Las Vegas tourism is up 2 per cent so far this year.
