Las Vegas man accused of drugging sex workers after meeting on dating app: police

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man faces charges for allegedly drugging two sex workers who came to his home after he met them on a dating app, according to documents the 8 News Now Investigators obtained.

Travis Boland faces charges of poisoning or adulterating food, water or medicine; as well as a drug-related charge, records said.

On May 12 around 7:30 a.m., a person called police saying a person had a knife and their friend would not wake up, according to documents. The caller said a woman and that woman’s cousin were drugged.

Around the same time, another person, later identified as Boland, called police, saying he met two women the night before and that they were not waking up, documents said.

Officers responded to the home in Summerlin, finding the two women unresponsive in a living room, documents said. The officers believed “they were given controlled substances that severely intoxicated them,” documents said. Officers gave Narcan, the opioid-antidote drug, to both women and paramedics brought them to the hospital.

Inside the home, officers said they located a suspected grow lab as well as a marijuana-like substance and methamphetamine. Police said they also found “a dropper with liquid” in the home’s kitchen.

The person who called 911 told police the trio was “on social media attempting to set up prostitution dates” when they met Boland, who agreed to pay for them to come to his home, documents said.

After calling the women and not hearing from them, the man became concerned and went to the home, finding Boland at the door, documents said. After the women would not wake up, he called police.

Boland told police he met the women on Tinder. After providing them with a canned alcoholic drink, they fell asleep and would not wake up, police said.

Boland denied giving the women any narcotics, police said.

In court on May 13, prosecutors asked for an additional four months to file a criminal complaint, likely due to the need for test results to come back. Judge Rebecca Saxe released Boland without setting bail. A status check was scheduled for Sept. 10. An attorney for Boland was not listed.
