Las Vegas Casino Deserted as Major Operators Shutter Sites Along the Strip

The ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, was deserted on Monday, March 16, after part-owner MGM Resorts announced it would be temporarily suspending services effective Tuesday.

MGM and Wynn resorts were among the chains shutting their doors amid the coronavirus, or COVID-19, pandemic.

One person had died from the virus in Nevada, according to reports, and the total of confirmed cases reached 45 on Monday.

“Nuts how empty this is. Vegas will be closed until end of month and many will be in furlough starting Tuesday,” Twitter user hayneyesiam wrote. This video shows the empty casino chairs and blank slot machine screens. Credit: @hayneyesiam via Storyful
