Las Cruces sinkhole swallows two cars in home’s front yard

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KRQE) – Las Cruces firefighters responded to a sinkhole at a home on the east side of Las Cruces on Monday night. Two vehicles were caught in the large sinkhole.

Crews evacuated three homes on the 1700 block of Regal Ridge Street on Monday evening, the Las Cruces Fire Department says. No one was injured.

New Mexico considering new system for dealing with mentally ill criminals

The American Red Cross is assisting the impacted families, and utility crews responded to check service lines. The city has closed Regal Ridge Street.

The city is working to figure out how to fill the hole, the fire department says. As of Tuesday morning, the cause of the sinkhole is unknow, Las Cruces Fire Department says.
